๐Ÿป Brewing

Brewing lets you turn ordinary ingredients into drinks with different qualities, effects, and properties. Some are simple refreshments, while others require careful cooking, aging, or distillation to perfect.

The fun part? You won't know every recipe when you start.

As you explore, experiment, and discover new brews, you'll build your own Brewer's Journal containing the recipes you've learned.

๐Ÿ“– The Brewer's Journalโ€‹

Your Brewer's Journal is your personal recipe collection.

Recipes can be unlocked in two ways:

  • ๐Ÿ“œ Find Recipe Pages while exploring and looting the world.
  • ๐Ÿงช Discover a recipe yourself by successfully brewing it.

Once you've learned a recipe, it's permanently added to your Brewer's Journal. Your Journal will show you the information you need to recreate your discovered brews, including ingredients and any special preparation requirements.

Some recipes cannot be found as Recipe Pages, so experimentation is worth it!

๐Ÿงช Brewing Basicsโ€‹

Different drinks require different brewing methods. A simple drink might only need to be cooked in a cauldron, while more advanced recipes can involve several steps.

Depending on the recipe, you may need to master:

Ingredients โ€ข Cooking Time โ€ข Distillation โ€ข Barrel Type โ€ข Aging โ€ข Quality

๐Ÿ”ฅ Cookingโ€‹

Brewing starts at the cauldron.

Add your ingredients to a cauldron over a heat source and allow them to cook.

Timing matters! Taking a brew out too early or leaving it cooking too long can affect the final result.

Watch the particles above your cauldron โ€” their appearance can help you judge how your brew is progressing.

โš—๏ธ Distillingโ€‹

Some recipes require distillation after cooking.

Not every drink needs to be distilled, and more advanced recipes may require multiple distillation runs before they're ready.

๐Ÿ›ข๏ธ Barrels & Agingโ€‹

Some brews need to be aged in a barrel before they're complete. How long a drink is aged โ€” and sometimes even the type of wood used to build the barrel โ€” can affect the final result.

There are three ways to age your brews:

  • Minecraft Barrel โ€” A normal Minecraft barrel can be used for aging.
  • Small Barrel โ€” A compact custom barrel built from wooden blocks.
  • Big Barrel โ€” A larger multiblock barrel for storing and aging more brews.

Small and Big Barrel Construction

To create a Brewery barrel, build the structure using the same wood type throughout, then place a sign containing: barrel

If constructed correctly, the barrel will be recognized automatically.

๐Ÿ’ก Wood matters! Different recipes may call for different barrel types, so choosing the right wood can be part of perfecting a brew.

Aging time is measured in Minecraft days. Check your discovered recipes in your Brewer's Journal to see how long a brew needs to age and what barrel type it requires.

โญ Brew Qualityโ€‹

Not every bottle of the same drink is created equal.

Your accuracy while brewing determines the quality of the finished product. Ingredient amounts, cooking, distillation, aging, and other recipe requirements can all contribute to getting the brew just right.

Brews display a quality rating of up to five stars, making it easy to tell when you've created something particularly good.

Higher-quality versions of some drinks may also provide better or longer-lasting effects.

โœจ Special Effectsโ€‹

Some brews are more than something to drink.

Depending on the recipe and the quality of your brew, drinking it may provide temporary bonuses or other special effects.

Experiment and build your Brewer's Journal to discover what each drink can do!

๐Ÿบ Alcohol & Drunkennessโ€‹

Not every brew is alcoholic, but some definitely are.

As you drink alcoholic brews, your character can become progressively more intoxicated. At higher levels, you may:

  • Stumble while walking
  • Start typing a little... differently
  • Develop a hangover
  • Get sick ๐Ÿคข

Certain foods and drinks can help reduce your drunkenness.

There may even be a remedy for particularly rough mornings.

๐Ÿ”Ž Becoming a Brewerโ€‹

You don't need to know every recipe before getting started โ€” discovering them is part of the experience.

Grab some ingredients and start experimenting.

Explore the world for lost Recipe Pages, try different combinations and brewing techniques, trade discoveries with other players, and watch your Brewer's Journal slowly fill up.

Some recipes may be easy to stumble across.

Others might take a little more creativity.

Every master brewer has to ruin a few batches first. ๐Ÿป
