β¨ Custom Enchantments
TownyAge expands Minecraft's enchanting system with dozens of additional enchantments for tools, weapons, armor, bows, fishing rods, and more.
Some provide simple upgrades. Others completely change how an item works. Whether you're building the perfect pickaxe, hunting for rare books, or wondering why your fishing rod just pulled up a Drowned, there's a lot to discover.
π Getting Custom Enchantmentsβ
Custom enchantments are integrated into normal Minecraft gameplay. Depending on the enchantment, you may encounter them through:
- β¨ Enchanting Tables
- π§βπΎ Villager Trades
- πΊοΈ Exploration & Loot Chests
- π£ Fishing
- π§ Enchanted Mob Equipment
- π Villager Equipment Trades
- π° Trading with Other Players
Not every enchantment can be obtained from every source. Check the Where to Find column below before spending levels or rerolling trades. The availability shown is based on TownyAgeβs ExcellentEnchants configuration; actual loot and trade outcomes also depend on Minecraftβs mechanics.
π Rarityβ
Some custom enchantments are easy to encounter, while others are deliberately difficult to find.
| Rarity | What to Expect |
|---|---|
| Common | Regularly encountered enchants and smaller upgrades |
| Uncommon | Useful upgrades that may take some searching |
| Rare | Stronger or more specialized abilities |
| Chase | Highly desirable enchants that are intentionally difficult to obtain |
| Crown Jewel | Exceptionally rare enchants with major gameplay or economic value |
A rare enchantment isn't necessarily just stronger. Some of the most valuable enchants provide unique abilities or conveniences that can't easily be obtained elsewhere.
π Thriftyβ
Thrifty is one of the rarest and most valuable enchantments on TownyAge.
When killing a naturally spawned mob with a Thrifty weapon, there is a small chance for that mob to drop its Spawn Egg. Spawn Eggs are especially valuable because they can be used to change the mob type of a spawner.
Thrifty does not work on mobs created using mob spawners, spawn eggs, or dispensers using spawn eggs. Certain custom and special mobs are excluded as well.
Thrifty cannot be obtained from villagers or the Enchanting Table. Finding one is a big deal!
β Enchants Worth Watching Forβ
A few enchantments have especially unusual mechanics:
- Telekinesis sends mined drops directly into your inventory.
- Nimble sends mob drops directly into your inventory.
- Veinminer breaks connected blocks from the same ore vein.
- Treefeller cuts down an entire tree at once.
- Tunnel turns a tool into a larger-area excavation tool.
- Blast Mining adds a more explosive approach to mining.
- Smelter can automatically smelt compatible drops.
- Replanter automatically replants supported crops.
- Soulbound keeps valuable equipment with you through death.
- Flame Walker lets you travel across lava.
- Ender Bow turns a bow into a mobility tool.
- Flare can light up distant areas.
- Decapitator gives collectors a way to hunt for heads.
- Restore can save valuable equipment from breaking.
- Double Catch can double fishing catches.
β οΈ Cursesβ
Custom enchantments aren't always helpful.
TownyAge includes several additional curses, and some can appear during ordinary enchanting. That means an otherwise excellent roll may come with an unfortunate downside.
- Curse of Breaking β causes equipment to consume additional durability.
- Curse of Misfortune β can cause blocks or mobs to drop nothing.
- Curse of Mediocrity β can strip enchantments from dropped equipment.
- Curse of Fragility β prevents the cursed item from being modified with an Anvil or Grindstone.
- Curse of Drowned β sometimes fishing gives you a Drowned instead. Good luck. π£
- Curse of Death β killing another player carries a small chance of killing you too.
A cursed item isn't necessarily a bad item. Sometimes an otherwise incredible piece of equipment may have a curse attached. Whether the benefits are worth the downside is up to you.
π οΈ Building Your Gearβ
Equipment can have up to 5 custom enchantments at once.
Not every enchantment can be combined. Some are intentionally incompatible because they represent different equipment specializations.
Instead of one item doing absolutely everything, specialized gear can be worth building, enchanting, trading, and hunting for.
π§ Where to Find Each Enchantmentβ
The Where to Find column in the tables below uses these abbreviations:
- Table β enchanting table (on eligible equipment)
- Villagers β enchanted-book villager trades, subject to the configured villager trade pools
- Loot β randomly generated loot
- Mob gear β equipment spawned on mobs
- Equipment trades β enchanted equipment offered by villagers
Fishing: The provided files do not identify specific fishing loot tables. The pluginβs Treasure flag does not by itself guarantee an enchantment can be fished up.
These are possible acquisition routes, not guaranteed drops or exact probabilities. An enchantment's weight and the game's loot/trade mechanics also affect how often it appears. Player-to-player trading is always another option once someone has obtained an enchantment.
If an enchantment lists Loot but not Table or Villagers, focus on exploring for loot rather than spending levels at the enchanting table or rerolling librarian trades.

π₯ Experiment!β
Some custom enchantments behave very differently from ordinary Minecraft enchants. Try them out, build specialized equipment, and see what creative uses you can find.
If an enchantment doesn't work as described, bypasses protections, duplicates items, or otherwise behaves in a way that seems unintended, please report it in discord.
