⚔️ mcMMO
mcMMO adds skill-based progression to many of the things you already do in Minecraft.
Mining, fishing, farming, fighting, brewing, chopping trees, and other activities will earn mcMMO experience. As your skills level up, you'll unlock and improve special abilities and bonuses.
You don't need to choose a class or activate mcMMO to get started — just play!
Use /mcstats to view your current skill levels.
📈 Skills & Power Level
Each mcMMO skill levels independently based on the activities associated with it.
Your Power Level is the combined total of your mcMMO skill levels, giving you an easy way to see your overall progression.
TownyAge uses mcMMO's Retro Mode, meaning skills use the classic mcMMO level scale.
There is no maximum level configured for individual skills, so you can continue progressing as long as you'd like.
🧰 Skills
🤸 Acrobatics
Level Acrobatics by falling and successfully performing acrobatic actions.
As you improve, abilities such as Roll can help reduce fall damage.
🧪 Alchemy
Level Alchemy by brewing potions.
Higher Alchemy levels improve your brewing abilities and unlock additional Concoctions, allowing you to create potions using ingredients that aren't normally part of vanilla brewing.
🏹 Archery
Level Archery by fighting with bows.
Increasing the skill improves your effectiveness with bows and unlocks additional combat bonuses.
🪓 Axes
Level Axes by fighting with axes.
Higher levels improve your axe combat abilities and unlock additional bonuses while using axes as weapons.
🏹 Crossbows
Level Crossbows by fighting with crossbows.
As the skill increases, you'll improve your effectiveness and unlock additional crossbow-related combat abilities.
🥄 Excavation
Level Excavation by digging materials such as dirt, sand, gravel, clay, and similar blocks with a shovel.
Excavation can also uncover hidden treasures while digging. Different treasures require different Excavation levels and have different chances of being discovered.
🎣 Fishing
Level Fishing by catching fish and other items.
As your Fishing level increases, you'll improve your fishing abilities and gain access to better mcMMO fishing treasures.
🌿 Herbalism
Level Herbalism by harvesting crops, plants, flowers, and other vegetation.
Higher levels improve your farming-related abilities and bonuses.
🔨 Maces
Level Maces by fighting with a mace.
Increasing the skill unlocks and improves combat abilities associated with maces.
⛏️ Mining
Level Mining by breaking stone, ores, and other mineable blocks with a pickaxe.
Mining includes abilities that can make mining faster and more productive as your skill improves.
🔧 Repair
Repair allows you to repair damaged equipment using materials instead of crafting a replacement.
mcMMO Repair uses an Iron Block as its repair anvil.
Place an Iron Block and interact with it while holding the item you want to repair and the appropriate repair material.
Higher Repair levels improve your repair abilities.
♻️ Salvage
Salvage lets you break equipment back down into crafting materials.
mcMMO Salvage uses a Gold Block as its salvage anvil.
Place a Gold Block and interact with it while holding the item you want to salvage.
Your Salvage abilities improve as you progress through mcMMO.
🔥 Smelting
Smelting is a passive skill connected to your other mcMMO progression.
As it improves, you can gain additional benefits when smelting items in furnaces.
⚔️ Swords
Level Swords by fighting with swords.
Higher levels unlock and improve special sword abilities and combat bonuses.
🐺 Taming
Level Taming by working and fighting with tamed animals.
As your Taming skill increases, your companions can gain additional combat-related abilities and bonuses.
🔱 Tridents
Level Tridents by fighting with tridents.
Increasing the skill improves your effectiveness and unlocks additional trident-related combat abilities.
👊 Unarmed
Level Unarmed by fighting without a weapon.
Higher levels improve your unarmed combat and unlock additional abilities.
🪓 Woodcutting
Level Woodcutting by chopping trees and breaking logs with an axe.
As the skill improves, you'll unlock and strengthen abilities that make gathering wood faster and more effective.
✨ Active Abilities
Many mcMMO skills include special active abilities in addition to their passive bonuses.
These abilities are generally activated by readying the appropriate tool and then using it.
Some examples include abilities that allow you to:
- Mine blocks much faster
- Dig quickly with a shovel
- Cut down trees more efficiently
- Temporarily improve combat capabilities
Ability duration and effectiveness improve as the associated skill increases.
🏺 Excavation Treasures
While leveling Excavation, digging isn't always just digging.
Certain blocks have a chance to uncover bonus treasure, with different items becoming available as your Excavation level increases.
Some treasures are common, while others are extremely rare.
Keep digging — you never know what you'll pull out of the dirt.
🎣 Fishing Treasures
Fishing can pull up much more than ordinary fish.
mcMMO adds its own treasure system, allowing you to find equipment, materials, and other useful items while fishing.
The treasures available to you improve as your Fishing skill progresses.
🧪 Alchemy & Concoctions
Alchemy expands Minecraft's normal brewing system with Concoctions.
As your Alchemy level increases, additional ingredient tiers become available, allowing you to discover new potion recipes beyond standard vanilla brewing.
If an ingredient doesn't normally belong in a brewing stand, that doesn't necessarily mean it won't do anything here!
🚫 AFK & Farmed Experience
TownyAge's mcMMO progression is intended to reward actively playing the game rather than AFK or automated leveling.
Because of this, some easy-to-automate sources of mcMMO experience have been disabled or restricted.
For example, mobs created by mob spawners do not provide mcMMO experience.
💡 Jobs and mcMMO calculate progression separately. A spawner mob may still provide a reduced Jobs payout even when it provides no mcMMO experience.
⭐ mcMMO & Rank Up
The Rank Up system includes an additional mcMMO progression bonus.
At Rank 7 - Unique, you'll permanently receive a 10% boost to mcMMO experience gain.
This bonus does not stack with another mcMMO experience perk that provides the same type of boost — the highest unlocked bonus takes priority.

💡 Getting Started
There's no single "correct" way to level mcMMO.
If you enjoy mining, Mining will naturally increase. If you're building a farm, you'll gain Herbalism. Exploring with a shovel can level Excavation and uncover treasure, while combat will improve whichever weapon skills you prefer.
Just play the parts of Minecraft you enjoy, and your mcMMO skills will grow along with you.
