🌎 Nations
Nations allow multiple towns to form a larger community.
Instead of replacing your town, a Nation sits above it — each member town keeps its own residents, land, leadership, and town bank while becoming part of the larger Nation.
Creating a Nation costs $7,500.
👑 Creating a Nation
The Mayor of a town can create a Nation with:
/nation new [name]
The town that creates the Nation becomes its capital, and its Mayor becomes the Nation's leader.
Nations are private by default, so other towns must normally be invited before joining.
🏘️ Member Towns
A Nation can contain up to 4 towns.
Nation progression is based on the number of towns that belong to it rather than the total number of individual residents.
As the Nation grows, its member towns can receive additional benefits.
📈 Nation Levels
Nations automatically progress as additional towns join.
| Towns | Nation Level | Bonus Claims | Nation Outpost Bonus |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Nation | +8 | 0 |
| 2 | Coalition | +16 | +1 |
| 3 | Kingdom | +24 | +1 |
| 4 | Alliance | +32 | +1 |
Growing the Nation can also improve its upkeep modifiers and Nation bank capacity.
🏦 Nation Bank
Like towns, Nations have their own shared bank account.
Nation members can contribute with:
/nation deposit [amount]
The Nation bank is used for Nation-related expenses.
💬 Nation Chat
Members of a Nation have access to a private Nation chat channel.
Use:
/nc
to talk with players throughout your Nation.
This makes it easy for multiple towns to communicate without using general chat.
🚀 Nation Travel
Nation members can travel between member towns using Towny's town spawn system.
Travel to another town in your Nation does not have a server-configured travel fee.
Nation members can also access the Nation spawn.
🤝 Allies & Enemies
Nation leadership can manage relationships with other Nations.
Nations can establish allies or mark other Nations as enemies, allowing larger communities to define their relationships with one another.
Nation members also gain access to allied Nation town spawns.
⭐ Nation Ranks
Nations have their own leadership ranks separate from town ranks.
👑 Nation Leader
The leader has full control over Nation management.
⭐ Assistant
Nation Assistants can help with tasks such as inviting towns, managing alliances and enemies, and working with Nation funds.
🔑 Helper
Nation Helpers have more limited management access.
Town ranks and Nation ranks are separate, so having authority inside your town does not automatically give you the same authority over the entire Nation.
🏛️ The Capital
Every Nation has one town designated as its capital.
The capital is the central town of the Nation and is tied to Nation leadership.
Changing a Nation's capital costs $5,000.
💰 Nation Costs
Creating a Nation costs $7,500.
Nations can also have their own upkeep and taxes, so Nation leadership should keep money available in the Nation bank.
Town Mayors should also remember that joining a Nation can introduce Nation-level expenses in addition to their normal town upkeep.
