Town Growth & Claims

Towns are designed to grow alongside their communities. As your town gains residents, it will level up and unlock more land, purchasable claims, outposts, and cheaper upkeep.

Joining a nation provides additional bonuses, and nation capitals receive extra benefits of their own.

🏘️ Town Levels

Your town level is based on the number of residents in your town.

Base Claims

Base claims are the number of townblocks your town receives from its current town level.

As your population grows, your base claim allowance automatically increases.

Purchasable Claims

Towns can expand beyond their base allowance by purchasing additional townblocks.

The maximum number of bonus townblocks you can purchase also increases with your town level.

For example, a Town with 8 residents receives 384 base claims and can purchase up to 192 additional claims.

πŸ’° Town Upkeep

Claiming land comes with a daily upkeep cost, but growing your town makes maintaining that land cheaper.

The base upkeep rate is $10 per claimed townblock per day. As your town gains residents and reaches higher town levels, that rate is reduced.

Town LevelResidentsUpkeep per Claim
Settlement1$9.50/day
Hamlet2$8.50/day
Village4$7.50/day
Town8$6.50/day
Large Town12$5.50/day
City18$4.50/day
Large City24$3.50/day
Metropolis32$2.50/day

How Upkeep Is Calculated

Your town's daily land upkeep is based on the number of townblocks you actually have claimed.

Claimed Townblocks Γ— Upkeep Rate = Daily Land Upkeep

For example, a Village with 100 claimed townblocks pays: 100 Γ— $7.50 = $750/day

A Metropolis with the same 100 claimed townblocks pays: 100 Γ— $2.50 = $250/day

Growing your population therefore makes your existing territory cheaper to maintain, while also unlocking significantly more room to expand.

🌎 Nation Upkeep Discounts

Joining a nation can reduce your town's upkeep even further.

As the nation grows, every member town receives an additional discount to its town upkeep.

Towns in NationAdditional Upkeep Discount
1No additional discount
210% off
310% off
420% off

This discount is applied after your town-level upkeep rate.

For example, a Metropolis normally pays: $2.50 per claimed townblock

As a member of a full 4-town nation, it receives another 20% discount: $2.50 Γ— 0.80 = $2.00 per claimed townblock

So a Metropolis with 500 claimed townblocks would pay: 500 Γ— $2.00 = $1,000/day instead of $1,250/day outside of a full nation.

tip

Growing together pays!

More residents lower your town's upkeep rate, while building a larger nation can reduce it even further. A fully developed Metropolis in a full nation pays just $2 per claimed townblock per day.

πŸ—ΊοΈ Outpost Upkeep

Outposts have an additional upkeep cost of $50 per outpost per day.

Outpost upkeep is added separately after the other upkeep discounts are calculated.

For example, if your town has 3 outposts: 3 Γ— $50 = $150/day

That $150 is added to your town's normal daily land upkeep.

🌎 Nation Bonuses

Joining a nation provides additional benefits to every town in the nation.

Nations can contain a maximum of 4 towns. As more towns join, the bonuses become larger.

Towns in NationBonus ClaimsBonus Outposts
1+64+1
2+128+2
3+192+3
4+256+4

These bonuses are added on top of the town's normal limits.

Example

A Town with 8 residents normally has:

  • 384 base claims
  • 3 outposts

If that town belongs to a full 4-town nation, it receives an additional:

  • +256 claims
  • +4 outposts

That gives the town 640 base claim capacity and 7 outposts, before accounting for any purchased bonus claims.

πŸ‘‘ Nation Capital Bonuses

The capital of a nation receives an additional outpost bonus as the nation grows.

Towns in NationCapital Bonus
1+0 outposts
2+1 outpost
3+1 outpost
4+2 outposts

This bonus is added on top of both the town's normal outpost allowance and the nation's outpost bonus.

Maximum Outposts

A Metropolis receives 8 outposts from its town level.

In a full 4-town nation:

8 Town + 4 Nation = 12 Outposts

If that Metropolis is also the nation capital:

8 Town + 4 Nation + 2 Capital = 14 Outposts

So the maximum possible outpost allowance is 14.

πŸ—ΊοΈ What Is an Outpost?

An outpost allows your town to establish territory that is not connected to your main town.

Outposts are useful for expanding into distant areas, creating secondary settlements, accessing resources, or establishing town locations elsewhere in the world.

Because outposts allow towns to expand remotely, the number available is tied to town and nation progression.

tip

Growing your town isn't the only way to expand!

Joining or building a nation gives your town additional claims and outposts, while becoming a nation capital provides even more room for expansion.

⚠️ Existing Towns Over Their Limit

If your town already has more outposts than its current limit, your existing outposts will not be removed.

However, you will not be able to create additional outposts until your town's allowance is high enough.

This means older towns do not need to immediately give up existing territory when these limits change.
